SECRETARY JOANNE F. GOLDSTEIN RECOGNIZED FOR HER LEADERSHIP AND COMMITMENT ON BEHALF OF MASSACHUSETTS WORKERS

BOSTON - May 24, 2011 - The Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) today announced that Secretary Joanne F. Goldstein received the "Salt of the Earth" award from Community Labor United (CLU) at a recent ceremony at SEIU Local 615.

Community Labor United cited Secretary Goldstein's leadership and commitment to creating and upholding strong standards for Massachusetts' workers. Secretary Goldstein recently collaborated with CLU through the Green Justice campaign, which set labor standards for the home weatherization industry in an effort to improve access to these jobs for working class communities throughout the Greater Boston area.

"I am honored to receive the 'Salt of the Earth' award from Community Labor United," said Secretary Goldstein. "I look forward to continuing to work with CLU to protect and promote the interests of working families."

"Our members deeply appreciate Secretary Goldstein's firm commitment to good jobs and worker rights," said Darlene Lombos, co-director of Community Labor United. "We are proud to honor her."

This year marked CLU's fifth annual "Salt of the Earth" Awards Ceremony. CLU was founded in 2005 to bring together a wide range of unions and community-based organizations for the common interest of working families throughout the greater Boston area.
