Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011
The Temporary Payroll Tax Cut Continuation Act of 2011 extends the expiration dates of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) and federal-state Extended Benefits (EB) unemployment insurance (UI) programs. The legislation extends the deadlines by which claimants can apply for EUC and EB benefits through March 6, 2012 but does not add any new weeks of benefits. See chart.

Congress Passes Two-Month Extension of Emergency Federal Unemployment Benefits
On Friday, December 23, 2011, Congress passed a two-month extension of emergency federal unemployment benefits, and President Obama is expected to sign the bill shortly. We will post additional information about the extension as it becomes available. Claimants who continue to remain eligible for UI benefits and continue to sign weekly for those benefits will not need to take any further action to take advantage of the extension.
