You can use the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance's (DUA’s) TeleCert line to request your weekly unemployment benefits.  To use TeleCert, call 617-626-6338 any time from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

In order to request your benefits using TeleCert, you will need your Social Security Number and your DUA 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN).  If you do not have a PIN or forgot your PIN, please call the PIN Selection Line at 617-626-6943.

Note: If you have been using TeleCert to request your weekly benefit payments (sign or certify), please note that TeleCert questions have changed.



To request your weekly benefit payment by phone, please follow these steps: 

Enter your SSN and PIN - if your claim is in ACTIVE status, you will hear the following:

If you would like to request benefits for the week beginning [Sunday] and ending [Saturday], press 1. If not, press 2.

Please be advised! You are not eligible for benefits for any period of time you are outside of the United States, its territories or Canada; you should not request benefits for that time. To acknowledge that you understood the preceding statement, press 1. To repeat the statement, press star. If you did not understand the statement, press 9.

You will now be asked several questions for the week beginning Sunday and ending Saturday. Answer the following questions truthfully. After you have answered each question, your response will be repeated back to you. If you make a mistake or want to hear a question repeated, press the star button
 

  1. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week] did you work and earn wages?                                     
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  2. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], were you offered NEW full time employment?                            
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  3. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], did you quit a job?                                                      
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  4. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], were you laid off from a job?                                      
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  5. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], were you discharged (fired) from a job?                      
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  6. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], did you apply for or receive income that you have not previously reported to us, such as disability benefits, vacation pay, or workers compensation?
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  7. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], were you able to work?                                              
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  8. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], were you available to work?                                       
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  9. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], did you look for work?                                               
    If yes, press 1. If no, press 9.
  10. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], how many days did you look for work?                                       
    To indicate the number of days you looked for work, press 1 through 7.  For example, if you searched for 5 days, press 5.9.
  11. During the week [Sunday date of the requested week] through [Saturday date of the requested week], what was the primary Work Search activity you performed?                                               
    If you registered with a local One Stop Career Center, press 1. If you submitted a job application and/or a resume, press 2. If you performed any other activity, press 3.


Please hold. Do not hang up until we say, “Your weekly filing is now complete.” Do not enter your response yet. You must wait for the message to end before you answer. Please remember these important rules:-You are not eligible for unemployment benefits for any week that you worked full-time.  -If there are changes to any of the amounts you reported, tell the TeleClaim Center as soon as possible. -The answers you give must be true and correct. DUA may check the information you give to see if you qualify.-It is against state law to give DUA incorrect information to receive unemployment benefits. If you do that, you could be fined, sent to jail, and/or have to pay DUA back.

To acknowledge that you understood the preceding statement, press one. To repeat the statement, press star. If you did not understand the statement, press 9.

You will hear the following:

If you have moved recently and have not reported your new address to us, press one now. If you have not moved, press nine. The post office will not forward any correspondence from DUA.

Your weekly filing is now complete.  If you remain unemployed, call on or after next Sunday to file your Telecert.  You may check the status of your payment by calling the Payment Status line at 617-626-6563 or on the internet at www.mass.gov/dua.

The Department of Unemployment Assistance now offers Direct Deposit of your weekly unemployment benefits. To process your request for Direct Deposit you will need your Department of Unemployment Assistance PIN, your Social Security Number, your bank account number and the bank’s routing number.  

For checking accounts, the routing number is the first 9-digit number located on the bottom left hand corner of your check.  Your account number follows the routing number.  
For statement saving accounts, you will need to contact your bank for the routing and account numbers.  If you would like to sign up for direct deposit, press 1 or call 617-626-6800 or toll free 877-626-6800 from area codes 351, 413, 508, 774 or 978 and select the direct deposit option.
