Individuals in Berkshire and Franklin Counties May be Eligible for Unemployment Insurance Benefits as a result of damage and flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene.

Any impacted individuals may file a claim for unemployment benefits due to the tropical storm Irene. The disaster assistance period began on August 28, 2011 and ends the week ending March 3, 2012, and the filing deadline for individuals eligible for assistance is October 6, 2011. The first payable week will be the week ending September 3, 2011.

Please call the Department of Unemployment Assistance at 1-877- 232-6200 if you are an unemployed worker or self-employed individual who lived, worked, or was scheduled to work in the area impacted by the tropical storm Irene.
