Department of Industrial Accidents Modernizes Offices with WIFI Access

(Boston-May 7, 2014)– The Department of Industrial Accidents (DIA) announced that all offices will be equipped with WiFi Internet access beginning Monday, May 12th.  WiFi will allow attorneys to access DIA online accounts, e-mail and other Internet-based resources available for the practice of workers’ compensation law.

DIA has also modified the Document Management System to improve compatibility with smart phones, iPads, Android tablets and other mobile devices, creating the “Basic View” module which is now available to all users.  The Basic View requires no changes to any PC or mobile device and will display all documents with speed and ease.

Android devices will not be able to use the native web browser to access the DIA Claims Management System (CMS). This is due to a security block embedded in that browser. Attorneys can overcome the block by using Mozilla Firefox on Android devices which has been fully tested and works with all DIA systems.

Upon launching a web browser from a mobile device or laptop, the user will be prompted to log-in to the WiFi network and agree to the terms of use.  Full instructions on logging-on to the WiFi are available on CMS.

DIA will also be installing wireless printers in all DIA offices to allow attorneys to print documents from mobile devices as well.  This is part of DIA’s continuing effort to improve customer service and leverage the latest technology to benefit our constituents.

The Department of Industrial Accidents is one of five agencies in the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development.
