Ms. Nancy Lessin is employed by the United Steelworkers' Tony Mazzocchi Center for Safety, Health and Environmental Education. The United Steelworkers (USW) International Union is an affiliate of the national AFL-CIO. Prior to her employment with the USW, Ms. Lessin served as the Health and Safety Coordinator for the Massachusetts AFL-CIO. From 1979-1999 she worked for the Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health where she designed and presented occupational safety and health training programs for workers and unions in Massachusetts. She has a MSc in Labor Studies from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst and a BA from the University of Michigan. She currently serves on the AFL-CIO's Staff Subcommittee on Occupational Safety and Health, and on the Advisory Board for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health's Occupational Health Surveillance Program. She served for five years as a member of the National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health (NACOSH); and also served for five years on the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health's National Occupational Research Agenda "Organization of Work" Workgroup.
