The Division of Marine Fisheries (MarineFisheries) issued an April 11 th advisory detailing 2008 days-out specification for the 2008 sea herring fishery in Management Area 1A (see map). This notice serves as a reminder that beginning June 1 st, directed commercial fishing is prohibited on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. During the closure days, vessels participating in other fisheries may retain an incidental catch of herring that does not exceed more than 2,000 lbs of herring per trip.

States will meet and reassess the days out measures to ensure between 12,500 mt (the historic average) and 15,000 mt of the Management Area 1A TAC remain for the post-spawning period fishery.
