In order to maximize taxpayer dollars and promote business efficiency, MDAA's principal fiscal mission is to manage major business technology initiatives for the District Attorneys. The substantial majority of MDAA's annual legislative appropriation pays for business technology equipment and services.
The District Attorneys collectively employ approximately 1400 employees statewide who work from 115 locations. MDAA's principal technology mission is to manage the Wide Area Network (WAN) that connects those 115 sites to the MDAA and from there to the state-wide WAN managed by the Commonwealth's Information Technology Division (ITD). MDAA recently completed the rollout of its redesigned WAN with a disaster recovery site in Worcester ( ).

In addition to the DA network, the MDAA pays for the case management system utilized by the District Attorneys; centrally purchases and deploys technology products and upgrades for the eleven districts; and applies for and administers federal grants for technology products and services for the districts.
