DAs State Their Position on Key Public Safety Issues
Speaking unanimously, the Commonwealth's eleven District Attorneys have published a White Paper outlining their views of the major public safety and criminal justice issues of the day. The topics range from the video recording of suspect interviews with police and the question of inmate access to post-conviction DNA, to minimum mandatory sentences for drug traffickers and post-release supervision.
In announcing the publication, Plymouth District Attorney and MDAA President Timothy J. Cruz explained that "as elected public officials, we owe it to the public and the legislature to make our positions known on the issues that directly affect public safety in our communities." Cruz emphasized that the document reflects the unanimous views of all the District Attorneys.
