Text messaging, talking on a cell phone, adjusting the radio, writing a grocery list, feeding a baby or putting in contact lenses: these activities are commonplace with American drivers. A growing shift in a driver’s focus from the roadway to a multitude of other tasks impairs the driver’s ability to operate the vehicle safely. Andrea Nardone, MDAA’s Vehicular Crimes Staff Attorney, will explain what happens to an individual cognitively when performing a secondary task while operating a motor vehicle. This webinar will be useful for both law enforcement officers and prosecutors handling a distracted driving case as well as those involved in public education pieces on distracted driving.
