Massachusetts is in the process of upgrading the breath testing system across the state from the Draeger 7110 to the Draeger 9510 instrument. The breath testing technology remains the same. However, Massachusetts will now be utilizing a dry gas calibration standard of .08 % for the test rather than a wet bath calibration standard of .15%.
Andrea Nardone, MDAA’s Vehicular Crimes Staff Attorney, will explain the reason for the change to the dry gas standard, the benefits to using the dry gas, and the reason for lowering the standard value from a .15% to a .08%.
