OVERVIEW

MassGIS has derived a coverage of point landmarks from the 1990 U.S. Census TIGER Line files database. The datalayer, named LANDMARK_PT, contains the locations of schools, campgrounds, hospitals, etc. Point attributes were created from TIGER Type7 files.

Please note that this layer is based on old data and the points may have poor horizontal accuracy, and therefore should be used with caution.
Some features in this layer are also represented in newer, more spatially-accurate layers, including Schools, Colleges & Universities, Hospitals, Prisons, Airports, Trains and Seaports. Also, the OpenSpace layer contains polygons of state or local parks and forests.
