"Contrast Stretched" MrSID and JPEG 2000 files now available
FEBRUARY 23, 2007 - MassGIS is pleased to announce that a new set
of "contrast stretched" images in both MrSID and JPEG 2000 format are
now available for download and order. These contrast stretched images
may help solve some of the problems that some users encountered with
getting the original images to look the way they wanted. These new
images have a much greater contrast when compared to the originals and
should be welcomed by users who do not have the software tools to
modify the appearance of the original imagery. Read more ...

Both MrSID and JPEG 2000 files available for download;
MrSID Mosaics available to order
AUGUST 3, 2006 - Many
of you have been eagerly waiting for the new 2005 color orthoimage
basemap to become available. MassGIS is pleased to announce that
along with the previously-released MrSID images, JPEG 2000 versions of the data are now available for download.
These files are tiled using the same orthoquad (OQ) index used for our
other image datasets. All 1,554 images have been delivered and 3-band
(RGB) MrSID images were posted on our ftp site for free download on June 28.
Four-band (RGB and Near infrared) lossy JPEG 2000 versions are now available as well.
In addition, regional MrSID mosaics may ordered from our online order form.
*** Please note that the 627 MrSID
images previously available on the ftp site in March have been removed and
replaced with newer versions of the data (as of 6/28/06). ***
Other products, available for purchase on CD-ROM, DVD, or user-provided
portable hard drive, including the original GeoTIFF deliverables,
lossless JPEG 2000s, regional image mosaics and elevation datasets,
will become available over the next few months. Finally, a one-meter raster interpretation of impervious surface
for the entire state will be available as well.
MassGIS will be trying to
distribute all the products as quickly as possible. We ask for your patience. It will be well worth the wait!
