OVERVIEW

These polygon datalayers show the level of police employment by municipality in Massachusetts for the years 1989-2004. These layers can be seen in State Police OLIVER (SPOLIVER). These data were originally collected by the Massachusetts Department of State Police.

These layers are stored in ArcSDE
as spatial views in the EOPS schema and are distributed as POLICE_EMPLOYMENT_89_S_V through POLICE_EMPLOYMENT_04_S_V ("_S_V" for spatial view).
PRODUCTION
If the number of full time sworn males is non-zero and the number of full time sworn females is blank, the number of full time sworn females is assumed to be 0. Note: Downloading through OLIVER will change blanks in police employment data to 0s.

The Police Employment by Municipality datalayer's polygon attribute table has the following items:

Full-time sworn per 1,000 population (1980, 1990, or 2000)

MAINTENANCE

The State Police maintain this datalayer.
