The State Register of Historic Places GIS layer previously hosted by
MassGIS at this address has been removed at the request of the
Massachusetts Historical Commission (MHC), as it updates locational
inaccuracies and omissions in this layer dating to 1997.
GIS
information for State Register of Historic Places properties and for
other historic resources are currently in development by the MHC. Some
Massachusetts Cultural Resource Information System (MACRIS) information
about historic (non-archaeological) properties is available at
http://www.sec.state.ma.us/mhc/. Also, many other Massachusetts
historic and archaeological properties exist, for which information is
not presently available in the publicly accessible MACRIS database.
Users seeking specific location-related information should consult the
official Inventory of Historic and Archaeological Assets of the
Commonwealth maintained in the records, files and maps at the MHC,
Massachusetts Archives Building, 220 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston,
during business hours. No appointment is needed. For directions, see
the MHC Web site http://www.sec.state.ma.us/mhc/.
As always, the act of checking MHC's on-line database, or any other
electronic data, does not substitute for compliance with applicable
local, state, or federal laws and regulations. If you are representing
a developer and/or a proposed project that will require a permit,
license or funding from any state or federal agency, you must submit a
Project Notification Form (PNF) to MHC for MHC’s review and comment.
You may obtain a copy of a PNF through the MHC web site
http://www.sec.state.ma.us/mhc/ under the subject heading "MHC Forms." |
