OVERVIEW

The Town Halls layer shows the location of 355 primary executive offices, including town or city halls and annexes. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) GIS Program in cooperation with the Regional Planning Agencies and participating communities created the data as part of the development of Homeland Security Data Layers.   Stored in the ArcSDE, the layer is named TOWNHALLS_PT_MEMA.

MEMA GIS staff used the Mass.gov data and geocoded the town hall addresses. Regional planning agency data was used to update the production layer, which was then reviewed for completeness and accuracy by MEMA using Pictometry and parcel databases and by calling towns. MEMA and MassGIS staff then perfomed a final quality assurance of point locations and attribute values.

The layer's point attribute table contains the following items:
