How to Turn Graphics Into a Shapefile Layer

It is very easy to take graphic points, lines, or polygons and turn them into a shapefile of the corresponding type.
  1. Select all graphics of one type that you wish to put into a shapefile.
  2. Under the "Edit" menu, choose "Copy Graphics".
  3. Under the "View" mneu, choose "New Theme". Choose the type of theme that corresponds to your graphics.
  4. Under the "Edit" menu, choose "Paste".
  5. With the new shapefile theme active, under the "Theme" menu, choose "Stop Editing", and save when prompted.
Now those selected graphics should be saved into your new shapefile.
