While the victim rights movement has made significant
strides over the past decade in educating the public about the nature and
implications of victimization, generating concerned awareness about
violence, victimization, and victim rights remains a major priority at
MOVA. While many misconceptions still exist about crime and who becomes a
victim, MOVA, along with our partners, is dedicated to disseminating
clear information to better educate the public, survivors, providers, and
policymakers about victim issues and rights.
MOVA works with the media, schools, community groups, and diverse
stakeholders to educate the public about the causes, symptoms, and
consequences of violence, as well as what rights individuals have if they
become victims of crime.
The MOVA staff is available to make
presentations to groups about our agency and the criminal justice process
in general, as well as on the specific needs of different victim
categories, such as homicide, child abuse, domestic violence, sexual
assault, hate crimes, drunk driving, stalking,
elder abuse, fraud and property crimes.
