MOVA works to promote strong laws that will ensure that victims are provided with the rights and services to which they are entitled, and also which will provide appropriate sanctions for criminal behavior. Our agency has been instrumental in drafting, advocating for and securing passage of highly significant legislative reforms for Massachusetts crime victims, including the Victim Bill of Rights; Victim Compensation Reform; Juvenile Justice Reform; Truth in Sentencing legislation; and the Drunk Driving Trust Fund.
In addition, MOVA serves both as an information source on victim rights and services in Massachusetts and as a resource for public policy makers, legislators, criminal justice officials, victims, advocates and others interested in developing pro-victim legislation and public policy.
