VOCA: Funding for Victim Services

MOVA administers the federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) victim assistance program in Massachusetts, which provides funding for state and community based organizations to offer free mental health counseling and a range of other specialized services for crime victims. Each year, more than $7 million in VOCA funds is distributed to more than 100 programs across the state to help survivors of homicide victims, children who witness violence, and victims of child abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, drunk driving, hate crimes, elder abuse and political torture. Funding cycles are generally for periods of three years, and any program interested in applying for funding should contact MOVA to determine their eligibility and the availability of funds.
