Coordination of Victim Services

As an independent state agency whose primary mission is to advocate for crime victims, MOVA works closely with other state agencies to effectively implement victim rights laws and to ensure coordination of victim services. Our goal is to provide continuity of sensitive, high-quality services to victims from the point at which they enter the criminal justice system through the conclusion of their involvement. To accomplish this, we work to form partnerships with police officers, prosecutors, correctional facilities, probation officers, judges and the parole board to ensure that victims' rights and services are realized. The agency also collaborates at the local level to network and build coalitions among the community groups that are also concerned about victim rights and services, such as schools, colleges and universities, business professionals, the media, private citizens and social services organizations.
