One of MOVA's most important functions is to provide direct assistance to crime victims. When crime strikes, victims and their families are often traumatized,
confused and uncertain about where to turn for help. To help alleviate these burdens, the MOVA staff offers crisis intervention and short term counseling,
referrals to appropriate programs and service providers, and information and advocacy to help victims better understand the criminal justice system.
We can also connect victims to support groups in their communities so that they can talk with others who have had a similar experience.
The Attorney General's Office administers the state's Victim Compensation Fund. While MOVA frequently collaborates with their office, MOVA does not process victim compensation claims. To learn more about Victim Compensation please contact the Attorney General's Office directly at 617.727.2200 or click here.
Learn more about specific types of victimization and resources through our Crime Info Sheets.
