| Greetings from Jeff Wulfson
Welcome to the MTRS’s website! As of October 31, 2007, as the designee of the Commissioner of Education, I became Chairman of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement Board, succeeding David P. Driscoll, former Commissioner of Education. As Chairman, I head the seven-member Board that administers the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System (MTRS). The MTRS is a contributory retirement system governed by the Commonwealth's retirement law, Chapter 32 of the Massachusetts General Laws. The MTRS, which is the second largest of the Commonwealth’s 106 contributory retirement systems, provides retirement, disability and survivor benefits to Massachusetts public school teachers, administrators and their families. Our MTRS website is designed to provide all members of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System and our other colleagues with up-to-date news and information about the plan’s retirement benefits and the agency’s services. There are areas specifically for employers, active members and benefit recipients and we believe our other constituencies, such as teacher and administrator groups, legislators and potential members, will also find them informative. Please visit us often. We hope that you will find our pages interesting and useful. |
