On May 2, 2003, the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit entered an order suspending the respondent for one year effective that day. A copy of the order is attached to this summary.

On May 16, 2003, bar counsel filed a petition for reciprocal discipline in the Supreme Judicial Court for Suffolk County. On May 21, 2003, the county court issued an order requiring the respondent to show cause within thirty days why he should not be subject to reciprocal discipline.

On June 23, 2003, the respondent filed a response to the petition for reciprocal discipline, objecting to the imposition of any sanction. The respondent supplemented this response shortly thereafter. On September 10, 2003, the bar counsel filed a memorandum of law with attachments to support imposition of reciprocal discipline.

The Supreme Judicial Court for Suffolk County held a hearing on the petition on September 18, 2003. The respondent requested and received permission to file a response to bar counselís memorandum. On October 1, 2003, the respondent filed a memorandum in the county court.

On October 7, 2003, the county court (Ireland, J.) entered an order suspending the respondent effective thirty days from the entry date.
