S.J.C. Order of Term Suspension entered by Justice Botsford on May 5, 2008.1

SUMMARY2

The respondent was admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth on January 22, 2002. On December 18, 2007, the respondent was convicted in the Northampton District Court of driving under the influence, 2nd offense, and sentenced to two years in the house of correction. The respondent was required to serve 180 days, and the remainder of the sentence was suspended until December 15, 2009, with conditions that the respondentís operatorís license be suspended for eight years and that she consume no alcohol and submit to alcohol screens. The respondent also admitted to sufficient facts of resisting arrest, and the case was continued without a finding until December 16, 2008.

The respondent was temporarily suspended from the practice of law on January 22, 2008. On March 7, 2008, the respondent and bar counsel filed a stipulation in which the respondent admitted that her criminal conduct violated Mass. R. Prof. C. 8.4(b). The parties agreed that a six-month suspension from the practice of law effective retroactively to the date of her temporary suspension was the proper sanction. On April 14, 2008, the Board of Bar Overseers voted unanimously to file recommend a six-month suspension effective January 22, 2008, to the Supreme Judicial Court for Suffolk County.

On May 2, 2008, the Board of Bar Overseers filed an Information in the county court. On May 5, 2008, the county court (Botsford, J.) entered an order suspending the respondent from the practice of law for six months effective retroactive to January 22, 2008.
