The Office of the Bar Counsel has an opening for an Assistant Bar Counsel. The position involves the investigation of complaints against Massachusetts attorneys, evidentiary hearings before hearing committees, and appeals to the Board of Bar Overseers and Supreme Judicial Court. A minimum 5 years of practice experience is preferred. Other requirements include some knowledge of a variety of areas of legal practice, trial and appellate experience, and superior writing and oral advocacy skills. INVESTIGATOR/PARALEGAL

The Office of the Bar Counsel seeks a full-time investigator/paralegal.

The mission of the Office of the Bar Counsel is to protect the public from unethical conduct by lawyers and to preserve and enhance the integrity and high standards of the bar.  The paralegal/investigator assists in the investigation, resolution, and prosecution of complaints of attorney misconduct.  Duties include, but are not limited to, obtaining records from various courts, interviewing witnesses, drafting reports and summaries, organizing case files and exhibits, conducting legal research, and assisting at hearings.

Requirements:
Proven skills in problem identification, analysis and evaluation.
Proficiency in legal research resources.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organizational skills
Excellent written communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word
Bachelor’s degree

Two years of paralegal or investigative experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license preferred.
