The Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation will be holding a Consumer Day TOMORRROW, Wednesday, July 17 on the Hyannis Village Green, located at 385 Main Street. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and free document shredding will be provided to the public starting at 11:30 a.m. Representatives from each agency will be on hand to answer consumer questions about banking, insurance, telephone and cable services, professional licensure, and weights and measures.
A speaking program will begin at 11 a.m. Mark Ells, Assistant Town Manager of Barnstable, Jessica Sylver, CEO of the Hyannis Chamber of Commerce, Kimberly Denis, Executive Director of the Consumers Assistance Council on the Cape, Bernedette Lundbohm, Postal Inspector, and Mandi Rinaldi, Sales Manager of Doc Shredding Corp, will be in attendance to further consumer education about proper document disposal practices. Shredding documents that are no longer needed shields personal data and protects consumers from identity theft.
*NOTE: this event will take place on the Village Green on the Main Street sidewalk immediately adjacent to the Post Office. The event is not located inside the Post Office.
