Notice of Public Hearing
Pursuant to the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws chapter 171, section 6A, added by Chapter 223 of the Acts of 1998, and in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws chapter 30A, section 2, a public hearing will be held on Friday, February 26, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 2203, Leverett Saltonstall Building, 100 Cambridge Street, Boston, Massachusetts, at which oral comments will be received by the Division of Banks relative to the adoption of proposed new regulations which would authorize state-chartered credit unions to exercise any power and engage in any activity that is permissible for a federal credit union provided any such activity is not otherwise prohibited by law. The proposed regulations, 209 CMR 50.00 et seq. would authorize and establish procedures and requirements applicable to state-chartered credit unions seeking to exercise powers granted to federal credit unions under Federal Law.
Written comments may be submitted to the Division on the proposed regulations until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 1999. A copy of the proposed regulations is available for inspection at, and copies may be obtained from, the Massachusetts Division of Banks, 100 Cambridge Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02202.
