|Hearing Scheduled for December 11, 2006|
Pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 175, § 49A, Harleysville Worcester Insurance Company ("Harleysville Worcester") has requested the approval of the Commissioner of Insurance ("Commissioner") to transfer corporate domicile to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Harleysville Worcester is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harleysville Group Inc., which, in turn, is a subsidiary of Harleysville Mutual Insurance Company.
In light of Harleysville Worcester's request, the Commissioner wishes to consider relevant financial, legal and policy matters associated with this proposed redomestication. To provide for full consideration of these issues, the Commissioner has scheduled an informational hearing for 10:00 o'clock a.m. on December 11, 2006 at the Division of Insurance, One South Station, Boston, Massachusetts.
The purpose of the hearing is to afford all interested parties the opportunity to provide oral and/or written testimony regarding this matter. Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 175, § 49A, the Commissioner shall approve any such proposed transfer of domicile unless she determines such transfer is not in the interest of the policyholders of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Any person who intends to testify at the hearing may file a Notice of Intent to Testify with the Division of Insurance on or before December 4, 2006. All other parties who wish to testify will be heard subsequent to those who notify the Division of Insurance in advance. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so at any time prior to the conclusion of the hearing. All submissions, including the written Notice of Intent to Testify, must be sent to: Docket Clerk, Hearings and Appeals, Division of Insurance, One South Station, Boston, MA 02110-2208, and must refer to Docket No. G2006-09.
