Hearing Scheduled for May 30, 2007
Pursuant to Massachusetts General Law chapters 30A and 176J, the Division of Insurance ("Division") will hold a hearing on Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at its offices, Fifth Floor, One South Station, Boston, Massachusetts, 02110. The purpose of the hearing is to afford all interested persons an opportunity to provide oral and written testimony regarding proposed regulation 211 CMR 63.00 et seq., Young Adult Health Benefit Plans, which was promulgated as an emergency regulation on April 17, 2007.
Chapter 58 of the Acts of 2006, An Act Providing Access to Affordable, Quality, Accountable Health Care (the "Act"), as amended, brought about large scale health care reform. As requied under the Act, the Division proposes to promulgate 211 CMR 63.00 et seq., Young Adult Health Benefit Plans, to implement section 10 of M.G.L. c. 176J and establish benefits criteria and rating requirements for young adult health benefit plans. The promulgation of this regulation is necessary in order to provide guidance to companies offering young adult health benefit plans with coverage effective beginning July 1, 2007, and so that companies understand how to offer such products in a consistent and fair manner.
Any person who wishes to testify must file a Notice of Intent to Testify to the Division on or before May 28, 2007. All other persons who wish to testify will be heard subsequent to those who notify the Division in advance. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so until the record of the hearing is closed. All submissions must be sent to: Docket Clerk, Hearings and Appeals, Division of Insurance, One South Station, Boston, Massachusetts, 02110-2208, and must refer to Docket No. G2007-03.
