Per the terms of the amendment to the multi-state regulatory settlement agreement, UnumProvident, for claimants whose claim was denied or had benefits terminated between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 1999, has agreed to extend the October 17, 2005 deadline to request a reassessment of their claim.
For claims made under a disability policy with Unum Life Insurance Company and First Unum Life Insurance Company, those insureds will not receive notice of the regulatory settlement agreement but will have until June 30, 2006 to make a request for assessment of their claim.
