Division of Insurance Launches New Consumer Resources Web Site
InsureMASS streamlines, enhances accessibility of insurance information for Massachusetts consumers
"Insurance is an important and costly purchase. The best way for consumers to find the right coverage is to do their homework," said Commissioner Burnes. "InsureMASS is a one-stop resource that will make it much easier for consumers to learn about insurance and make informed choices."
The new web site portal provides several consumer guides and interactive tools for a variety of insurance needs. Included in these guides are ways to save on insurance and answers to frequently asked questions. Consumers can learn about specific lines and providers of insurance as well as stay informed about such important issues as insurance fraud and disaster preparedness. With just a few simple clicks, consumers can find a licensed agent, compare sample auto insurance premiums, review insurance laws and regulations and file a consumer complaint against an agent or insurer.
The web site also links to www.insureuonline.org, a national insurance information resource sponsored by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. InsureU provides an objective source of information for those considering or buying insurance. Recently, InsureU expanded its award-winning consumer education program to include new topic areas for consumers based on four different life situations: domestic partners; single parents; grandparents raising grandchildren; and members of the military. Both InsureU and InsureMASS provide the information necessary to give consumers a greater degree of confidence that the insurance decisions they make will keep their families and their assets properly protected.
