TO THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTION ADDRESSED:
This letter serves as a reminder that all financial institutions subject to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) reporting are required to use electronic filing (E-Filing) for certain FinCEN reports beginning no later than July 1, 2012. Institutions must submit FinCEN reports electronically unless they are eligible to request a temporary exemption as identified in the final rule.
For more information about E-Filing, please review the notice on FinCEN's Web site, www.fincen.gov. The notice provides links to frequently asked questions and an E-Filing Webinar. There is also a Test Site available at http://sdtmut.fincen.treas.gov/main.html. The right column displays sample new CTRs, SARs, and Exemption forms to explore.
For other technology-related questions specific to E-Filing, please call the BSA E-Filing Help desk at 1-866-346-9478.
For further information and/or assistance please contact the Division’s BSA/AML Specialist Jane Hurter at phone number 617-956-1500, Ext. 439 or email at jane.hurter@state.ma.us.
Sincerely,
David J. Cotney
Commissioner of Banks
