Patrick-Murray Administration's Division of Insurance Updates Tornado Insurance Claim Numbers: 9,500 claims totaling $175 million
BOSTON - June 29, 2011 - The Patrick-Murray Administration's Division of Insurance today updated estimates on insurance claims resulting from this month's Western and Central Massachusetts tornadoes, with 9,500 claims totaling an estimated $175 million having been reported by insurance carriers.
According to the Division of Insurance, insurance companies have received a total of 5,000 personal insurance claims, totaling $135 million. Companies have received 1,000 commercial property claims, with a price tag of $20 million. There have been 3,500 auto insurance claims filed, totaling $20 million.
The Division of Insurance continues to provide staff at the assistance centers Governor Patrick created to help those impacted by the storm, giving policyholders the opportunity to receive guidance as they navigate the claims process.
