The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR) recently announced the appointment of Commissioner of Insurance Joseph G. Murphy to its Board of Directors. NIPR is a non-profit affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) which has streamlined the electronic registration of insurance producers nationwide. Massachusetts joined the NIPR system in 2012. "We are pleased to welcome Commissioner Murphy to the board," said Roger A. Sevigny, Commissioner of Insurance in New Hampshire and NIPR's newly re-elected Board Chair. "He brings vital insurance regulatory experience and a commitment to helping NIPR advance the process to benefit the industry, regulators and producers alike."
NIPR is governed by a board of directors that includes seven members representing the NAIC and six industry members representing a cross-section of the insurance industry. Incorporated in October 1996, NIPR is committed to creating a cost-effective and streamlined licensing system. The Massachusetts Division of Insurance is responsible for the licensing of over 100,000 insurance agents, brokers, advisors and other insurance professionals. These individuals and business entities may now access NIPR's systems to become licensed or have their licenses renewed.
