Study Regarding the Appropriate Length of Time for Carriers to
Report Plan Changes to the Division of Insurance
Pursuant to SECTION 65 of Chapter 288 of the Acts of 2010 ("SECTION 65") and in accordance with the authority granted to the Commissioner of Insurance ("Commissioner") under M.G.L. c. 175 and M.G.L. c. 176J, the Division of Insurance ("Division") will hold a public informational hearing at Room 1-E, 1000 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118-6200 on June 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.
SECTION 65 requires the Division to study carrier reporting deadlines for small group health insurance products to determine and recommend the appropriate length of time for carriers to report plan changes to the Division and the Attorney General. The purpose of this hearing is to afford all interested persons an opportunity to provide oral and/or written comment on the advantages and/or disadvantages of the 90-day reporting timeframe currently provided by M.G.L. c. 176J, §6(c) and 211 CMR 66.09(2)(a) or of any alternative reporting timeframe.
This hearing shall be designated as Docket No.G2011-08. Any person who wishes to provide oral comment at the hearing must file a Notice of Intent to Comment with the Division's Docket Clerk no later than June 14, 2011. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so until the record of the hearing is closed on June 30, 2011. All submissions must be sent to the Docket Clerk, Hearings and Appeals, Division of Insurance, 1000 Washington Street, Suite 810, Boston, MA 02118-6200, or submitted by electronic mail to email@example.com and must refer to Docket No.G2011-08 in the subject line. Persons who do not file a Notice of Intent to Comment will be heard after those who notify the Division in advance of the hearing.
