In accordance with the authority granted to the Commissioner of Insurance under M.G.L. c. 175, M.G.L. c. 176A, M.G.L. c. 176B, M.G.L. c. 176G and M.G.L. c. 176J, the Division of Insurance ("Division") will hold a public informational hearing regarding the benefits of transparency in the health care marketplace ("Informational Hearing on Transparency"). The purpose of the Informational Hearing on Transparency is to afford all interested persons an opportunity to provide oral and/or written comments regarding the benefits of transparency and its effect on competition in the health care marketplace. Specifically, the Division is seeking comments on ways to promote transparency, including insurers' public disclosure of certain cost information related to specific procedures.
The Division will hold the Informational Hearing on Transparency at 10:00 a.m. on May 7, 2010, at the Division's offices at 1000 Washington Street, Hearing Room 111, Boston, MA 02118. Any person who wishes to provide oral comment at this informational hearing may submit a Notice of Intent to Comment to the Division on or before 4:00 p.m. on May 5,, 2010. All other persons who wish to comment will be heard subsequent to those who notify the Division in advance. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so until the record of the hearings is closed.
