Proposed Amendments to Performance Standards for the
Payment and Handling of Private Passenger Motor Vehicle Insurance Claims
Pursuant to the authority granted to the Commissioner of Insurance ("Commissioner") under G.L. c. 175, §113H, a public hearing will be held on March 8, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the offices of the Division of Insurance, 1000 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118-6200. The purpose of the hearing is to afford all interested persons an opportunity to provide oral and/or written comment regarding proposed amendments to the Performance Standards for the Handling and Payment of Private Passenger Claims by Servicing Carriers ("Performance Standards") adopted by Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers ("CAR"). On November 3, 2010 the CAR Governing Committee voted to amend the Performance Standards, which were last approved by the Commissioner on August 2, 2009. Pursuant to G.L. c. 175, §113H, the Commissioner must review, and approve or modify, the proposed amendments to the Performance Standards. The proposed amendments to the Performance Standards may be examined at the offices of the Division of Insurance during regular business hours.
This proceeding has been designated as Docket No. C2011-01. Any person who wishes to provide oral comment concerning the proposed amendments to the Performance Standards is requested to submit to the Division of Insurance a Notice of Intent to Comment no later than March 4, 2011. All other interested persons will be heard after those who notify the Division in advance of the hearing. All notices and submissions must be sent to the Docket Clerk, Hearings and Appeals, Division of Insurance, 1000 Washington Street, Suite 810, Boston, Massachusetts 02118-6200, and shall refer to Docket No. C2011-01.
