The Special Commission on Dental Insurance, created pursuant to Section 164 of Chapter 38 of the Acts of 2013, will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of gathering comments and information, as well as to conduct its usual business.
The Special Commission has been charged by the Legislature to:
Review carrier contracts with dental providers and the methods by which dental providers are reimbursed for services provided to persons covered under the carriers' dental plans; study all facets of fees charged by dentists within network dental plans, including those limited by the terms of a dentist's contract with carriers; and make recommendations to ensure that contract terms and methods of reimbursing dental providers promote the delivery of quality and affordable dental care in the commonwealth.
Towards this goal, the Special Commission has hired a consultant to review carrier contracts and develop a report, and is seeking additional public input through the hearing process.
