Hearing Scheduled for September 23, 2004
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Inc. ("Blue Cross") has applied for a company license for HMO Blue, to be known as Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts HMO Blue, Inc. This license application proposes to create a separate corporate entity for Blue Cross's HMO line of business. In light of that request, the Commissioner of Insurance ("Commissioner") wishes to present the license application to the public and to allow the public an opportunity to comment.
To provide for consideration of these issues, the Commissioner has scheduled an information hearing and public comment opportunity for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2004, at the Division of Insurance, Hearing Room A, One South Station, Boston, MA 02110.
The purpose of the hearing is to assist the Commissioner in gathering information concerning the potential impact of the proposed plan. The public is invited to address these and other related issues through written submissions and/or oral testimony.
Persons who intend to provide oral testimony at the hearing should submit a written notice of their intent to participate, addressed to the Docket Clerk, Division of Insurance, One South Station, Boston, MA 02110 on or before September 22, 2004. Other persons will be heard after those who submit notice. Written submissions may be made at or before the hearing. All notices and submissions should refer to Division of Insurance Docket No. G-2004-08.
