Hearing Scheduled for December 7, 2004
Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 175, § 49A, Boston Old Colony Insurance Company has requested the approval of the Commissioner of Insurance to transfer its corporate domicile to Illinois. In light of that request, the Commissioner wishes to consider all relevant financial, legal and policy matters associated with this proposed redomestication. To provide for full consideration of these issues, the Commissioner has scheduled an informational hearing for 11:00 AM on December 7, 2004 at the Division of Insurance, One South Station, Boston, Massachusetts.
The purpose of the hearing is to afford all interested parties the opportunity to provide oral and/or written testimony regarding this matter. Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 175, § 49A, the Commissioner shall approve any such proposed change in domicile unless she determines that such change is not in the interest of the policyholders of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Any person who intends to testify at the hearing may file a Notice of Intent to Testify to the Division of Insurance on or before November 30, 2004. All other parties who wish to testify will be heard subsequent to those who notify the Division of Insurance in advance. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so at any time prior to the conclusion of the hearing. All submissions, including the written Notice of Intent to Testify, must be sent to: Docket Clerk, Hearings and Appeals, Division of Insurance, One South Station, Boston, Massachusetts, 02110-2208, and must refer to Docket # G2004-09.
