|Hearing Scheduled for March 20, 2007|
Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws chapters 30A, 176M, and 176J, the Division of Insurance ("Division") will hold a hearing on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at its offices, Fifth Floor, One South Station, Boston, Massachusetts, 02110. The purpose of the hearing is to afford all interested persons an opportunity to provide oral and written testimony regarding proposed amendments to 211 CMR 41.00 , Nongroup Health Insurance Rate and Policy Form Filings, Review, and Hearing Procedures under M.G.L. c. 176M, and 211 CMR 66.00 , Small Group Health Insurance.
Due to the passage of Chapter 58 of the Acts of 2006 as amended by Chapters 324 and 450 of the Acts of 2006 (the "Act"), which, in part, amends M.G.L. c. 176M, Nongroup Health Insurance, and M.G.L. c. 176J, Small Group Health Insurance, the Division proposes to amend 211 CMR 41.00 and 211 CMR 66.00. The Act closes the current nongroup health insurance market as of June 30, 2007, and, merges the nongroup/individual and small group health insurance markets, as of July 1, 2007. In addition, the proposed amendments to 211 CMR 66.00 establish new rating requirements for products to be offered to eligible individuals and eligible small groups in the new merged market.
Any person who wishes to testify must file a Notice of Intent to Testify to the Division on or before March 16, 2007. All other persons who wish to testify will be heard subsequent to those who notify the Division in advance. Persons wishing to submit written comments may do so until the record of the hearing is closed. All submissions must be sent to: Docket Clerk, Hearings and Appeals, Division of Insurance, One South Station, Boston, Massachusetts, 02110-2208, and must refer to Docket No. G2007-01 for 211 CMR 41.00 and Docket No. G2007-02 for 211 CMR 66.00. Copies of the proposed regulatory revisions may be obtained from the Docket Clerk at the Division of Insurance by calling (617) 521- 7330.
