Hearing on June 28, 2012
In accordance with the authority granted under Chapter 176K of the Massachusetts General Laws, and pursuant to 211 CMR 71.24, the Commissioner of Insurance ("Commissioner") will conduct a public hearing concerning the overall condition of the Massachusetts market for Medicare Supplement insurance on June 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the Division of Insurance (“Division”), 1000 Washington Street, 1st Floor, Boston MA 02118-6200.
The Commissioner, in accordance with M.G.L. c. 176K, § 7(j), annually conducts a public hearing to monitor the overall condition of the Massachusetts market for Medicare Supplement insurance so as to improve access by individuals to coverage under Chapter 176K, to encourage aggregation of risk pools through product selection and to promote long-term access by individuals to coverage through continued stability and financial viability of all carriers in the market. This annual hearing affords all interested persons an opportunity to provide oral and written comments relating to these matters. The Division welcomes all comments concerning the impact of Chapter 176K on the market for these products since 1994, as well as the anticipated effects during the coming year.
Any person who wishes to present an oral or written comment at the hearing is requested to submit a Notice of Intent to Comment no later than June 22, 2012. All others will be heard after those who notify the Division in advance. Written comments may be submitted in advance of the hearing. All notices and submissions must be sent to the Docket Clerk, Hearings and Appeals, Division of Insurance, 1000 Washington Street, Suite 810, Boston MA 02118-6200, or by electronic mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, and must refer to Docket No. G2012-07 in the subject line.
