ANNUAL PUBLIC HEARING TO MONITOR THE
OVERALL CONDITION OF THE MASSACHUSETTS MARKET FOR MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT INSURANCE

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws c. 176K §7 (j), and 211 CMR 71.23(1), the Commissioner of Insurance (“Commissioner”) will hold a hearing on the overall condition of the Massachusetts market for Medicare Supplement insurance on June 17, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Division of Insurance, Hearing Room 1-E, 1000 Washington Street, Boston MA 02118-6200.
The purpose of the hearing is to monitor the overall condition of the market for Medicare Supplement insurance in order to improve access by individuals to coverage of this product, to encourage aggregation of risk pools through product selection and to promote long-term access by individuals to coverage through continued stability and financial viability of all carriers in the market. The hearing affords all interested persons an opportunity to provide oral and written comments on these matters.
This matter has been assigned docket number G2016-01. Any person who wishes to make an oral statement is requested to file a Notice of Intent to Comment with the Division of Insurance on or before June 15, 2016. All other persons who wish to make oral statements will be heard after those who notify the Division of Insurance in advance. Written comments may be submitted at any time before the hearing and thereafter until the hearing record is closed.
