Pursuant to M.G.L. c. 112, §§ 61 and 66B, and c. 30A, the Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities ("Board") will hold a public hearing relative to amended regulations governing the management, operation and maintenance of public water supply systems. The public hearing will serve to allow comments to amendments proposed by the Board to regulations located at 236 CMR 2.03 (2.03: Definitions) and at 236 CMR 4.02 (4.02: Application for Examination). By the proposed amendments, the Board is proposing to ensure that the definitions in its regulations more accurately reflect the common knowledge and practice in the industry regarding treatment processes. The proposed amendments are also intended to allow the Board to adopt reasonable minimum standards for operator certification by eliminating the current lack of minimal education and experience requirements for operator certification. These proposed amendments are intended to ensure uniformity and safety in industry training prior to certification.
The hearing will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at the Division of Professional Licensure, 239 Causeway St., 2d floor, Room 206, in Boston. A copy of the proposed regulations may be obtained at the Board's web site located at: http://www.mass.gov/dpl/boards/dw/ or by contacting the Board at (617) 727-3072.
Written comments regarding the regulations will also be accepted through the end of business on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities, 239 Causeway Street, 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02114.
