By the Division of Professional Licensure

The Board of Certification of Operators of Drinking Water Supply Facilities (Board), at its meeting on August 22, 2007, voted to amend its policy requiring 50% of TCHs for license renewal to come from courses directly related to the operation of drinking water supply facilities. Effective immediately, the Board has changed this requirement to a recommendation. This will affect all operators when they renew licenses, which expire on December 31, 2007. The Board continues to strongly support operators getting training that is relevant to the work they perform regularly. However, the Board feels that it has increased awareness among operators and PWSs of this issue and that it no longer needs to enforce this requirement. The Board took this action in response to on-going concerns from operators regarding the classification of training to meet this requirement.
