Inspectors with the Division of Professional Licensure recently visited 155 beauty salons, barbershops and cosmetology shops and schools to verify license status and ensure compliance with applicable regulations under the Boards of Registration for Barbers and Cosmetologists.

In this most recent sweep, salons and shops in Canton, Charlestown, East Boston, Marlboroughand Raynham were inspected. Of the 155 businesses, 52 were cited for violations ranging from unsanitary conditions to employment of unlicensed individuals.

"These inspections are very important in ensuring that there is statewide consistency in compliance with regulatory standards," said Anne L.
