262 CMR 9.00 states the procedures that licensees must follow in order to renew lapsed/expired license.
The purpose of this policy statement is to offer guidance to Licensees regarding the "other Board requirements" that the Board may impose as a condition for re-licensure after a licensee has allowed his/her license to expire, as stated in 262 CMR 9.01 (1)(c), (2)(a)(3), and (2)(b)(3).
Individuals previously licensed by the Board of Registration of Allied Mental Health and Human Service Professionals ("the Board") may be eligible for relicensure by the Board under the following conditions:
- Individuals whose license has lapsed for less than five years are required to demonstrate successful completion of continuing education consistent with the Board's regulations for the period of time the license has lapsed and pay the licensing fees as applicable for the period of time the license has lapsed in addition to the renewal fee
- Individuals whose license has lapsed for more than five years are required to demonstrate successful completion of continuing education as in (1) above, pay applicable fees as in (1) above, and successfully pass the appropriate licensing exam upon reexamination.
- Exceptions to the reexamination requirement in (2) above include, but is not limited to,
- Individuals licensed in another jurisdiction, where the Board has determined that the license is substantially equivalent with the Board's regulations;, and
- Rehabilitation Therapists and Educational Psychologists who hold a current state or national certification.
- The Board may also exempt from the examination requirement individuals who submit satisfactory proof that they were unable to renew their license in a timely manner due to illness and/or other extenuating circumstances.
Individuals seeking relicensure after licensure expiration shall complete required and applicable renewal and examination applications and submit these to the Board.
