VARIANCE REQUESTS:

VR-129) JUNIPER GARDENS – 18 JUNIPER STREET – BROOKLINE

The Petitioner (Mr. Gregg Connelly, Journeyman Plumber) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.14 to approve (post-installation) a domestic water heater that has not been Board accepted. The Brookline Board of Health has no objection to this request.

VR-138) MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME ACADEMY – 101 ACADEMY DRIVE – BUZZARDS BAY

The Petitioner (Ms. Caitlin Gamache, from Cosentini Consulting Engineers) requests a variance from the current Board Policy allowing one washing machine connection per thirty two students in a dormitory. Petitioner states that these students wear uniforms most of the time which are laundered elsewhere by the academy As this is a State project, no Board of Health letter is required.

VR-134) DCR HOUGHTON POND – BLUE HILL RIVER ROAD – MILTON

The Petitioner (Mr. John P. Murray, Deputy Commissioner, Park Operations) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1. Petitioner seeks a waiver of the shower requirement of the “Bathing (Public Beaches)” section of Table 1. As this is a State project, no Board of Health letter is required. Request was continued at the January 2, 2013 board meeting.

VR-141) BOSTON CONVENTION CENTER – 415 SUMMER STREET - BOSTON

The Petitioner (Mr. Dan Jolliff, from US Roaster Corporation) requests a variance from 248 CMR 3.04 (Product Acceptance) to allow the temporary installation of a Probat Burns 20,000 BTU coffee roaster which has not been accepted by the Board for installation in Massachusetts. As this is a State project, no Board of Health letter is required.

VR-139) SPENCER FIRE DEPARTMENT – 11 WEST MAIN STREET - SPENCER

The Petitioner (Spencer Fire Chief Robert Parsons ) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.10 (18) to allow the installation of one unisex rest room for employees in lieu of the required two. The Harwich Board of Health supports this request.

VR-123) MASS VETERINARY HOSPITAL – 20 CABOT ROAD – WOBURN

The Petitioner (Mr. Ed Mathews from Mathews Brothers Plumbing) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.06 to allow the installation of PVC from the back of the washing machine to a flow meter required by MWRA . A petition letter has been sent to the Woburn Board of Health.

VR-146) MT AUBURN HOSPITAL – 330 MT AUBURN ST – WOBURN

The Petitioner (Mr. Thomas Hannon of Commonwealth Plumbing) requests a variance from 248 CMR 3.04 to allow the installation of a one-of-a-kind birthing tub, Aqua-Eez 3000S. Cambridge Inspectional Services supports this request.

VR-145) DCR WAMPATUCK STATE PARK – UNION STREET - HINGHAM

The Petitioner (Joseph Yetman from DCR) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.10 Table 1 to change the fixture count in the existing rest rooms in order to accommodate handicap requirements. As this is a State project, no Board of Health petition is required.

VR-59) Board Authorized Pre-Approval – MADICO INC. 64 INDUSTRIAL PARKWAY - WOBURN

The Petitioner (Mark Feldman) requests a variance from 248 CMR 3.04, regarding the installation of an unlisted gas oven. The petitioner provided this office with a copy of the 3rd party test report for this unit.

VR-85) Board Authorized Pre-Approval – POLYFOAM CORPORATION – NORTHBRIDGE

The Petitioner (Mr. Michael Piascik) requests a variance from 248 CMR 3.04, regarding the installation of a thermal oxidizer which does not have Board approval. The petitioner provided this office with a copy of the 3rd party test report for this unit.

VR-117) Board Authorized Pre-Approval – AMERICAN CALIBRATION & TESTING– BILLERICA

The Petitioner (Mr. Gordon Mooney, Owner/President) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.09, regarding the installations of floor drains in a commercial building with overhead door. Permanent bollards shall be installed preventing vehicles from entering the space. The petitioner provided this office with a copy of the petition letter sent to the Billerica Board of Health.

VR-140) Board Authorized Pre-Approval – MA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD – 149 SPEEN STREET – NATICK

The Petitioner (Mr. George Katsoufis, from DCAMM) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.09, regarding the installation of floor drains in a commercial building with overhead door. Permanent bollards shall be installed preventing vehicles from entering the space. As this is a State project, no Board of Health letter is required.

VR-142) Board Authorized Pre-Approval – CLOUTIER SUPPLY – HARWICH

The Petitioner (Mr. Tony Raggio from Cloutier Supply) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.09, regarding the installations of floor drains in a commercial building with overhead door. Permanent bollards shall be installed preventing vehicles from entering the space. The Harwich Board of Health supported this request.

VR -144) Board Authorized Pre-Approval – BURGESS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – STURBRIDGE

The Petitioner (Mr. Martin Goulet from the Town of Sturbridge) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.09, regarding the installations of floor drains in a commercial building with overhead door. Permanent bollards shall be installed preventing vehicles from entering the space. The Sturbridge Board of Health supported this request.
