PV)191b) O’REILLY AUTO PARTS – 15 INDEPENDENCE DRIVE - DEVENS
The Petitioner (Mr. Wayne Benson Jr, Architect) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (j) 4. The petitioner states the project is a renovation of an existing distribution facility, including the installation of product racking and rack supported platforms. Mr. Benson notes there are several areas of the facility that exceed the allowable travel distance by 170 feet. The occupants of the space are stationed within the allowed travel distance, however they are required to travel via motorized lift trucks to remote areas throughout their day to retrieve stored product and immediately return it to their stations. The petitioner seeks relief from the 300’ requirement. Mr. Benson provided the Board office with a petition letter from the Devens Enterprise Commission, which acts as the Board of Health and supports the request. Mr. Robert Freidrich, plumbing inspector supports the variance.
PV202) STAVIS FOODS–LUFA FARMS-OTHER TENANTS – 12-12A FID KENNEDY AVE – BOSTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Robert Carasitti, Sr. Consultant) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18). Mr. Carasitti notes there are multiple tenant spaces – A, B, C. The Petitioner is seeking variance approval for establishing tenant population, travel distance, unisex toilet facilities, and a unisex shower. As this is a state project, no Board of Health letter is required.
PV204) GYU KAKU RESTAURANT – 16 -18 ELIOT STREET – CAMBRIDGE
The Petitioner (Mr. Marc Hershman, AIA) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1. The Petitioner notes that the restroom for females has 1-handicapped toilet and 1-standard toilet. The men’s restroom has 1-handicapped toilet and 2-urinals. Petitioner is proposing to eliminate the 2-urninals and install 1-handicapped urinal. In addition the petitioner proposes removing a toilet installed in a 4’ 4” by 4’ 9” space, previously used by staff. Mr. Hershman provided the Board office with a letter sent to the Cambridge Board of Health.
PV211) UMASS – JOHN QUINCY ADAMS HOUSE – 171 FEARING STREET - AMHERST
The Petitioner (Mr. Raymond Vincent, Department Head) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1. The Petitioner is seeking relief from the requirement to provide two handicapped accessible restrooms. The petitioner proposes installing one unisex handicapped accessible restroom. Mr. Vincent notes that on the same floor there is a unisex non-handicap restroom. The petitioner also notes the Board approved three similar variances at different locations on campus. As this is a state project no Board of Health letter is required..
PV212) SUBWAY RESTAURANT – 59 MOUNT AUBURN STREET - WATERTOWN
The Petitioner (Mr. Rob Mecurio, President) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (i) & Table 1. The Petitioner seeks relief from the requirement of having two restrooms for patrons and employees. The petitioner provided a copy of the petition letter sent to the Watertown Board of Health.
PV213) DCR – DWSP – CARPENTRY SHOP – 500 WILSON STREET - CLINTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Scott Murphy, Asst. Reg. Dir.) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (i). The Petitioner notes that this new building design did not include plumbing or employee toilet facilities. As this is a state project no Board of Health letter is required.
